Pondering the Pre-season

We had our Thunder team meeting on Saturday which has cleared up a lot of the things that had been up in the air and were bugging me a bit. The most importat thing is that I'm pretty sure we've got an almost full squad now. I've got a lot of faith in our team and I'm just amazed at how many times people come up to me and tell me that the Thunder is a fantastic team. Which is always a good ego boost for everyone. I reckon that we will do well this year as long as we keep practicing and the squad holds together.

Post 2

Fantastic! This blog has officially lasted longer than my last one which I made all of one post on. I've now blogged twice as much as my previous effort.

I suppose really I've been "blogging" in one way or another for over 10 years now. First attempts were shoddily put together web pages (some things don't change) hosted on Tripod which we all used to use regularly when I was at uni to keep in touch with mates like Ned and Faye as we were all over the country. We're all still all over the country, the only thing that's changed is I don't really keep in touch with that group of friends any more.

I've also had my own web-site www.photovoltage.co.uk for a while now and it's been through various different guises. From an attempt at a semi-pro website to provide prints of digital photos I'd taken at events like the RC Car Racing at Southport, through to my own gallery of pictures, it's currently sitting at No 2 in the Google rank for the word "photovoltage" and is at the moment a link through to a page where you can order prints of the Alex Hall Charity Softball Tournament from 2005.

My next project for the Photovoltage website is to put up some photos in a gallery of our wedding in NZ last year. Other projects that I'm working on are the www.ManchesterSoftball.co.uk the Manchester Softball League Website and www.KC-Workwear.com which is a website for a company based in Liverpool who provide workwear, sportswear, corporate clothing etc.

All these things that I've done... I've left my fair share of digital footprints in the sands of the internet (how poetic am I?) but digging them out is a fair old task, it's pretty easy to Google yourself if your name's something nice and "namely" like Steven Smitherbank, I suppose if you've got a common name like Bob Jones then its tricky to weed out your own stuff from the 1.4 Million other references to your name sake. It's even tougher for me - as my name is Daniel Lord, so not only do I have common first name and a surname that's also a word for god, and a lord and an exclamation...

I suppose this is a good thing - if someone wants to find something out about me on the internet it's going to take them a while to wade through all that other stuff. See. Religion does have a purpose.
